Adjustable Bike Seat on Market

Part 3: What We Found on the Market

What We Found on the Market

We couldn’t get traction with U.S. manufacturers. I reached out to multiple U.S.-based bicycle seat makers and distributors and never heard back. I also learned quickly that most seats are produced offshore.

During my research, I stumbled on an adjustable seat I really liked. It offered three width positions, a synthetic leather surface, and memory foam. In a lot of ways, it matched the vision I had.

The catch was the adjustment process. To change seat widths you had to remove four bolts and a bottom shell, reposition the halves, then reassemble everything. That is not practical on a ride.

Otherwise, the design checked many boxes for me: a durable synthetic leather seating surface, memory foam cushions, and, even at the smallest width, a center opening that allowed airflow and reduced contact in sensitive areas.

I needed to get my hands on that seat, see it in person, and test how it worked. I was excited to find out how a truly adjustable seat would perform in the real world.
